Larry Franklin Haskins, 85, passed away on November 23, 2024 at Winfield Senior Living with his wife by his side.
Private services will be held at a later date. Memorials in Larry's name may be made to Winfield Senior Living or Gentiva Hospice, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
Larry was born on January 22, 1939 in a farmhouse near Milan, KS to parents Alfred B. and Winifred (Clark) Haskins. Larry attended Frog Pond School until it closed then he attended Argonia schools until he graduated. On June 2, 1958 he was united in marriage to the love of his life Nancy Showalter. Larry worked at Cessna, and as a wheat farmer, he loved fishing from the Haskins dam and hunting deer. He had an amazing green thumb and grew cantaloupe and the sweetest watermelons, he was known as the “Watermelon King” to many. He enjoyed telling stories and serving as an elder in his church.
Larry is survived by his wife Nancy, daughters, Brenda Pontious (Dave), Bonny Giesen (Ron), Beverly Haskins, and Brooke Kubik (Mark), grandchildren Justin, Josh, Kalyn, Jenny, Bryan, Brogy, Abby, Miranda, Margo, Matt, Blake, Brinn, Jason, and Tessa, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Harold Haskins, Wilfred Haskins, Wilma Haskins, and brother-in-law Curtis Showalter.
