Linda Gay Greever, 81, of Rainbow Bend, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita surrounded by family.
Linda was born in Winfield on July 25, 1943 to parents Gaylord and Alice (Knollenberg) Holman. Linda attended the Rainbow Bend grade school in rural Cowley County following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather before graduating from Winfield High School in 1961. In 1965, Linda moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she made her home for the next sixty years.
In 1976 Linda opened an art gallery in Tulsa, The Art Market, that primarily focused on the work of Native American historic and contemporary artists. Linda’s passion for and engagement with the Oklahoma tribal arts communities included activities such as volunteering for the Intertribal Indian Club of Tulsa, judging exhibits at the Red Earth Festival, as well as receiving national and international recognition as an accredited art appraiser specializing in tribal and Native American artwork.
Throughout her life Linda found many outlets to express her faith. As a young community leader, Linda served as the Oklahoma chapter president of Church Women United, an ecumenical organization that works for peace and justice for women and children. She participated in an interfaith dialogue devoted to building understanding and tolerance. She also took endless joy in teaching the toddler Sunday school class at Community Baptist Church in Tulsa.
Linda loved spending time with her grandchildren, hosting spring break and summer extravaganzas of sleep overs, movie nights, and snacks galore. She always had a little dog by her side that lucked into living a very pampered life.
Linda is survived by her children, Tracy Greever-Rice (Glenn Rice), Jill Fitzpatrick, and Chris Greever, sister Rebecca Holman Parker, grandchildren Katherine Dranginis, Charles Dranginis, Maggie Fitzpatrick, Becca Fitzpatrick (Travis McDonald), and Grant Greever. Linda is preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Dwight Parker.
