Claudine Halbert, born December 11, 1927 to James and Vera (Keeler) Snell in Winfield, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024, at the age of 96.
She was married to Kenneth Halbert until his passing in 1981. While married to Kenneth, they had three sons - Kenneth Jr (Jim), Rodney, and Thomas. Claudine began her working career as a typist before transitioning to a career at Rubbermaid, where she later retired in 1994. She was a woman of immense talent and generosity, donating countless numbers of her handmade afghans to cancer and dialysis centers to provide comfort and warmth to those in need. She dedicated several holiday seasons to volunteering at the Kansas Veterans Home, where she helped wrap Christmas presents for veterans' loved ones. Her skill as a master yarn crafter and needleworker was unmatched, resulting in countless beautifully handcrafted afghans and cross-stitch embroidery projects. Claudine lived a life filled with love, creativity, and dedication to her family and community.
Claudine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, sons Jim and wife Debbie, Rodney, and Tom, sister Jackie, grandchildren Jamie and Jeffrey, great-grandchild Debra, and best friend and cousin Karen.
Despite these profound losses, Claudine's love and legacy live on through her grandchildren. She is survived by grandchildren Nathan and wife Melissa, Amber and husband Luis, Jason, Brooke, Bryan, Chris and wife Elisha, and daughter-in-law Trudy. Her family tree continues to grow, with great-grandchildren Logan, Abigail, Hannah, Tony, Lucian, Ciara, Kamea, Courtney, Angel, and Thomas, as well as the blessing of great-great-grandchildren.
She cherished the simple pleasures of life - attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, visiting with cousins, watching Southwestern College basketball, feeding ducks at the park, watching Days of Our Lives, and creating works of art with her needles and crochet hooks.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, family dedication, and creativity that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Thursday, August 22 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield, private graveside services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Claudine’s honor, contributions may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home.
