Lola Carson Obituary

Lola Lorraine Carson, 102, of Oxford, KS passed away on February 16, 2023 at Cumbernauld Village.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at the Oxford Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. There is no visitation scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, donations may be left in the care of the funeral home.

Lola was born on October 21, 1920 at the Oxford, KS Hospital to parents Myrel and Velma (Notestine) Green. She graduated from Oxford High School. On October 8, 1939 she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Geddes Carson Sr. in Claremore, OK. The couple moved back to the Oxford area to farm and raise their family. Lola was a wonderful farm wife; she drove the wheat truck, was always cooking and feeding her family and the harvest crew. She was a fun and hardworking mother who enjoyed raising her family. Later in life, Lola worked as a secretary, first at Donley L.P. Gas, then Hittle Oil Co. and lastly at the City of Winfield. She was a member of the Oxford Methodist Church, the Oxford Mothers Club, she also enjoyed playing Rook at Kellogg Hall.

Surviving to honor her memory are daughters Frances Donley and husband Robert of Eaton, CO, and Pamalee Houk of Fairview, OK, daughter-in-law Mary Carson of Oxford, KS., grandchildren; Lawrence Carson of Hunter, OK, Jeff Donley and wife Mandy of Greeley, CO, Bobby Donley and wife Sarah of Windsor, CO, Shawn Houk and wife Michelle of Yukon, OK, Brad Houk of Broken Arrow, OK., Katherine Houk Faulk and husband Paul of Fairview, OK, Sherry Carson White of Oxford, KS; great-grandchildren Paige Carson, KaCee Carson Tyler, Cody Carson, Chase Donley, Cooper Donley, Carson Faulk, Jacob Faulk and Ryan Faulk and great-great-grandchildren, Adam Hull, Asher Singleton, Maverick Tyler, Oliver Carson, Charlie Carson, and Rosalind Carson.

 Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, son William “Bill” Carson Jr., and grandson William “Kit” Carson.
