Lynn Stewart Chamberlain, 78, of Arkansas City, Kansas passed away on Tuesday afternoon, March 10, 2020 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Burial will follow at Mulvane, Kansas Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The casket will be open on Friday at 12:00 noon till 8:00 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.shelleyfamilyfh.com. Lynn was born on February 7, 1942 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the son of Oran Lee and Lola Marian (Triggs) Chamberlain. He was reared and educated in Rapid City, South Dakota, where he graduated from high school in 1960. Lynn went to work as an expediter for Beech Aircraft for 20 years starting in 1961. He was united in marriage to Gloria Schneider on October 24, 1963 in Derby, Kansas. The couple had one son, Kenneth. After leaving the workforce, Lynn became a full-time farmer on a farm near Rose Hill, KS. The couple celebrated 50 years of marriage before Gloria passed on October 25, 2013. Lynn moved to Arkansas City in 2014. Lynn loved rebuilding old and new cars and enjoyed driving his old classic cars daily. He attended various car shows throughout the summer. He also was an avid model car builder since 1958. Lynn also enjoyed making knives and was a professional stainless trim restorer on antique cars. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
His family includes: his brothers, Lee Chamberlain and wife Nance of Arkansas City, Joel Chamberlain and wife, Mary Certain of Fair Grove, MO; 2 nieces, Dana and Aurora Chamberlain of St. Louis, MO; 2 nephews, Eric Mavis and family of Ponca City, OK and William Mavis and family of Arkansas City, KS and a special friend, Charlotte Sutton of Newkirk, OK. In addition to his wife, Gloria and his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth.
