Margaret Elizabeth Downey, 88, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Medicalodges of Arkansas City.

Margaret was born August 24, 1935 in Nacogdoches, TX to parents Grady and Susie Bell (Rape) Beard. She lived in Texas, Arizona, and Kansas. Margaret was united in marriage to Ralph G. Brankel and two children were born to this union, the couple later divorced. She enjoyed gardening flowers, going fishing and to garage sales, and she was a good mother.

Survivors include her children Darlene Brankel and Ralph Brankel, grandsons Paul Brankel and George Jackson, and brothers Dan and Aaron Beard. She is preceded in death by her parents and five siblings.

Private burial services will take place at the Statler Cemetery. Arrangements by Shelley Family Funeral Home.
