Marianne Francis (Rogers) Smith

Marianne Francis Smith, 79, of Arkansas City, KS passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Presbyterian Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. There is no visitation scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cowley County Humane Society or the American Brain Foundation.  Donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home.

Marianne was born January 27, 1945 in Newkirk, OK, the daughter of Francis "Pat" and Evelyn (Meeks) Rogers. She graduated from Arkansas City High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Emporia State University. Marianne worked for USD 465 in Winfield, KS for many years as a home economics teacher. She was united in marriage to Stephen W. Smith in 1967 at the Arkansas City United Methodist Church. Marianne enjoyed going to car shows with her husband, collecting antiques such as scales and sewing machines, amateur gemology, and being a member of the Arkansas City Soroptimist Club. She was a talented cook, seamstress, and stained glass hobbyist. Most of all, Marianne cherished traveling and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter Shelena Hall and son-in-law Jeff Hall of Frisco, TX. Marianne is preceded in death by her husband Stephen Smith, and her parents.
