Marilyn Kay Alberding Obituary

Marilyn K. Alberding, 80, of Winfield, KS, passed away October 29, 2025, at Alderbrook Village in Arkansas City.


Graveside services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, November 7, 2025, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to Gentiva Hospice and left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home.


Marilyn was born on October 31, 1944, in Winfield, KS to parents Gene and Ruth (Dowler) Birdzell. She graduated from Winfield High School and then married the love of her life, David Alberding in 1966. Marilyn worked at the Winfield State Hospital as a secretary for over 30 years before retiring to care for her husband. After his passing, she worked as the secretary for the Walnut Valley Festival and for the Qual Valley Fun Barn for many years. She enjoyed helping her sons with 4-H, making crafts, fishing, baking cakes, and writing family history books.


Survivors include her sons Alan Alberding (Kelly) and Lewis Alberding, grandchildren Jancy Dorzweiler (Tyler) and Travis Alberding (Adina), and sister Tresia Magnus (Wade).


She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
