Marjorie Oleta Short, 91, of Winfield, KS passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Cumbernauld Village.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, August 16, 2024 at the Oxford Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday, August 15, 2024 at the Oxford Funeral Service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cumbernauld Village Employee Education Fund, donations may be left in the care of the Oxford Funeral Service.
Marjorie was born December 30, 1932 in Canadian, OK to parents Chester and Lillie (Smith) Gray. She graduated from Canadian High School and later earned a bachelor’s degree from East Central State University. Marjorie was united in marriage to the love of her life, William “Bill” Short, on August 8, 1954 in Canadian, OK. Together the couple owned and operated W.D. Short Oil Co. for many years. Marjorie was a member of the Oxford Methodist Church. She enjoyed working, reading, and traveling to destinations all over the world, but most important to her was spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children Don Short and wife Sharon, Nancy Burger and husband Phil, Ben Short and wife Sandy, and Tommy Short and wife Edita, grandchildren Bill Short, Andy Short, Brady Short, Andy Burger, Tyler Short, Ryan Short, Bret Short, Will Short, and Piper Short, 8 great-grandchildren, brother Tommy Gray and wife Gladys, and sister-in-law Karen Gibbs and husband Dan. Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Ruby Catherine.
