Martha Lou South, 91, of Geuda Springs, KS, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at her home.
Graveside services will be held at 1 PM Monday November 10, 2025 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore, OK. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM at the Rice Family Funeral Home on Sunday, November 9th. Memorials may be made to the Cowley County Humane Society and left in the care of the Rice Family Funeral Home or the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
Martha was born on May 27, 1934, in Fort Smith, AR. She was raised by her grandparents and moved to Arkansas City, where she married Fay South in 1954. He preceded her in death in 2016 and she married Basil “Bud” Burner in 2022. Martha worked at a pie shop, driving school buses for the Ark City School District, with her husband at “Dean's RV,” and after raising her children, as a dressmaker. She enjoyed sewing, dot art, and was an exceptional craft maker.
She is survived by her husband, Bud Bruner, children David South (Karen), Randy South (Lisa), and Karen Wells (Dewayne Jones); 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and siblings Peggy, Glenda and Hazel.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Fay, and her grandparents.
