Marvin I. Starlin, 72, of Oxford, KS passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Oxford Medicalodge.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Oxford Funeral Service Chapel, interment will follow at the Oxford Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled. Memorial contributions for Marvin may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, donations may be left in the care of the Oxford Funeral Service – PO Box 123 Oxford, KS 67119.
Marvin was born November 2, 1948 in Wellington, KS and lived all his life in Oxford, KS. In 1961 while working his paper route delivering the Winfield Daily Courier, Marvin met his future wife, Vickie Deckard and her family. Upon graduation from Oxford High School in 1969, Marvin was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served in Germany and Vietnam as a cook and was honorably discharged in early 1971. Having decided he was ready to settle down, Marvin proposed marriage to Vickie in May of 1971. The couple was married on October 8, 1971 and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Marvin worked for Gott Corporation which later became Rubbermaid, for thirty-eight years. Marvin retired from Rubbermaid and went to work for Wal-Mart in Winfield as a maintenance man and cart pusher. For the past 12 years, Marvin could often be seen out on the parking lot pushing a line of shopping carts into the store for customers to use. Marvin was a lifetime member of the Winfield VFW.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Vickie of the home, their three daughters, Leslie Starlin of Winfield, Jennifer Shields of Chanute, and Stacy Starlin of the home; six grandchildren: Bevin, Braedon, Brooklyn, Hailey, Peyton, and Barrett; six great-grandchildren; his brothers Russell and Gerald Starlin of Oxford, and his sister Gloria Ann Weir of Topeka, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
