Mrs. Mary Ella Rollins lived 94 years. She was born on September 27, 1930 to parents Oscar and Laura (Trenary) Denson. At 9 years old, Mary started cooking, to help her mama take care of her other siblings. She worked at Senior Care centers because she wanted to help and show her love. She met Owen Rollins after some time, they fell in love and decided to marry, not once but twice. Mary had two sons and one daughter. She was very active at the Silverdale Church in Kansas. Mary loves cooking but baking was her happy place. By making her choices of cheesecake, that she would sell. Everyone got to have a piece of her. She would call it, “lovin from her oven”. Her hobbies were baking, word searches, and little trinkets, such as butterflies, turtles and owls. Mary lived a fulfilling life with adventure and made remarkable memories. On 12/02/2024 at 8:30 p.m. Mary Ella Rollins suddenly passed away, peacefully in her sleep. It was time for her to go home and be with her husband Owen.
Mary is survived by her son, Paul Carlson and wife Tina, Kevin Rollins and wife Sandy Jo of Newkirk, OK; her 3 grandchildren 2 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband and daughter Krystal Key.
Graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM at the Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City, Kansas on August 1, 2025. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelley Family Funeral Home to defray expenses.
