Matthew Shane Wright, 38, of Pratt, KS passed away on December 16, 2024, from injuries sustained while trying to rescue his family from a housefire.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 PM. Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the Pratt Community Center, 619 N. Main St. Pratt, KS 67124. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wright Family Fund, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City or the Peoples Bank of Pratt.
Matthew was born on October 3, 1986, in Wichita, KS to parents Mark Wright and Angela Adams. He graduated from Lawrence Gardner High School and then started his career as an oil field worker, he was a driller, derrick hand and floor hand for Fossil Drilling. Matthew loved to skateboard, ride motorcycles, 4-wheelers, go-carts, and race in BMX. He enjoyed building things, woodworking, and playing video games. Most of all he loved his children and spending time with them.
Matthew is survived by his parents, spouse Megan Swinford, children, Jaylen Wright Denmark, Elijah Lake-Wright, Darrius Shane Wright, Quinton Matthew Wright, and Quinn Elizabeth Jane Wright, siblings, Charles Brown, Standard Brown, Courtney Adams, Jaeden Wright, and Jerique Wright, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Betty Woody.
