Melinda "Mindy" Kaye (Morgan) Wirth

Melinda “Mindy” Kaye (Morgan) Wirth, 58, of Winfield passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 13 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield, burial will follow at the New Salem Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation from 5-7 P.M. Wednesday, May 12 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Adrenal Diseases Foundation and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, donations may be left in care of the funeral home.

Mindy was born at the Susan B. Anthony Hospital in El Dorado, KS January 14, 1963 the daughter of Marvin and Judith (Rimbey) Morgan. She graduated from Burden High School in 1981 and later received an Associates of Applied Science degree. On May 2, 1980 she was united in marriage to Vern Wirth in New Salem, the couple divorced after 23 years of marriage, but remained close friends. Mindy loved being a stay at home mom, she also worked as a paramedic for St. Francis Hospital and the Butler County EMS starting in 1999, and in 2001 she retired due to her health. Mindy’s hobbies included: sewing, crafting, gardening, baking, and reading murder mysteries. She was known to turn nothing into something, for being meticulous in her work, and being honest no matter what. The most important part of her life was her family, and she dearly loved her dog Biscuit and her grand dog Benson.

Mindy is survived by her children: Amber Cowdin (Justin Johnson), Christian Wirth (Nicole), Mariah Wirth, and honorary daughter Sarah Murphy; grandkids: Gabriel, Katlyn, Zoey, Allison, Tynsleigh, Olivia, Oz, Beth, and Devin; siblings: Marten Morgan, Suzan Mayfield, Lori Morgan, Ronna Vanderpool, and Kristi Conklin; daughter-in-law Heather Jowers (Chris); and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Debra, Vicki, and Craig.
