Norman Robert “Bob” Barker, 79, of Winfield, KS passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 27, 2020.
Memorial services will be held at 10 A.M. Thursday, December 31st at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Fellowship Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, contributions may be left in the care of the funeral home.
Bob was born on March 21, 1941 in Winfield, KS to parents Norman “Buck” Barker and Nellie (Lacy) Barker, he graduated Winfield High School in 1959 and spent 8 years in the National Guard. On February 14, 1961 he married the love of his life, Sandra “Sandy” Steele in Winfield. Bob worked at GE for many years and was proud to be in quality control testing engines. Bob loved food, smoking ribs, going to new restaurants, being outside, feeding the fish in his pond, and in his younger years going fishing and camping. He was a Chiefs fan long before it was cool and enjoyed shooting and was a lifelong NRA member.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy; daughters Debbie Adams, Robin Hayes and Julie Boyle (Ron); grandchildren: Afton, Keri, Leslie, Scott, Hanna, Tyson, Rob, Brett, Veronica, Alliyah, Martashia and Payslee; 32 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, sister Judith Evans and grandson Sam Dimit.
