Orville Wesley "Wes" Conner

Orville Wesley “Wes” Conner, resident of Arkansas City, KS, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at age 77.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Geuda Springs, Kansas Cemetery.  No viewing or visitation services.  Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City is in charge of the arrangements and online condolences are at www.shelleyfamilyfh.com

Wes was born on January 9, 1943 in Arenas Valley, New Mexico (previously, Whiskey Creek) to Eugene “Gene” Harris and Lena Ozella (Hobbs) Conner.  He attended Geuda Springs High School and in December 1960 entered the United States Navy, where he served through January 1964.   On May 16, 1964, he was united in marriage to Frances Irene Massengale. 

Wes was a welder by profession and was fortunate to travel to many places including Alaska and many states in the continental United States.  He was a huge Waylon Jennings fan and collected all of his albums.  

He is survived by his sisters; Viola Conner Richardson of Ponca City, OK and Ozella Conner Vince of Geuda Springs, KS; his aunt Margaret Conner Reppond; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances and one sister, Naomi Carol Conner Pappan.
