It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peggy Diane Sandell, age 84, who departed peacefully on August 11, 2024.
Born December 30, 1939, to Loyal and Verna Brown in Anthony, Kansas. Peggy was preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers, Ronnie and Larry, and beloved husband Jimmy. Surviving sister Janne (husband Butch) of Greenwood, Arkansas. Peggy found the love of her life and married Jim R. Sandell on June 15th, 1957, in Medford, Oklahoma and raised three children. Mike (wife Anna) and Jeff (wife Sonja) of Wellington, Kansas, and Kristen (husband Stacey) of Austin, Texas, she is the grandmother to 9 grandchildren, Ryan Sandell, Aaron Sandell, Shelbe Sandell, Morgyn Sandell Cain, Garrett Sandell, Kyle Johnson, Trevor Johnson, Trey Johnson, Taran Johnson; 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Fierce, loving, adventurous, and hardworking, Peggy was a force of nature who could do just about anything she set her sights on. Peggy was a loving person, she was always supportive and helped all who needed her, regardless of the “ask”. Hosting at her home during the holidays, Peggy opened her door to all things family/friends, and all who attended were always made to feel welcome. Peggy’s favorite holiday was “Halloween”, traditions were a huge part of the Sandell family gatherings
Crusader traditions were a blast from the past, in which Peggy continued to host Football pre-game dinners for players, coaches, cheerleaders, and all who wanted to be part of the tradition.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wellington Humane Society, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. Private memorial services will be held with burial to follow at the Caldwell Cemetery.
