Pete Daniel Montoya

Pedro “Pete” Montoya, 78, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 in Winfield, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Friday, September 3, 2021 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. Thursday, September 2 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Winfield American Legion, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.

Pete was born March 1, 1943 in Winfield, KS the son of Clemente and Anita (Amador) Montoya. He was born and raised in Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School with the Class of ‘61. In 1962 Pete joined the Army, he was honorably discharged from the Army Reserves in 1968. Pete worked for Beech Aircraft for 44 years, he also owned and maintained rental properties. He enjoyed being a member and volunteer of the Winfield American Legion, he was also a member of the VFW. Pete liked taking drives around town, watching KU Basketball, and the Chiefs, his family will remember his loving and forgiving nature.

His family includes his children: Kristin and Spencer McFarland, grandchildren: Eric Montoya (Bailey), Levi Montoya, Hannah McFarland, Ivy Tatum (William), and Sydney Ferraro, nine great-grandchildren, and sister Erlinda Montoya-Kiser. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, sons Ric and Todd Montoya, infant sister Virginia and brother Clemente, Jr.
