Randy Lynn Bahruth, 68, of Arkansas City, KS, passed away on Monday evening, April 20, 2020 surrounded by his family at his home.
In honor of the family and the current social restrictions, a drive through viewing and visitation service will be held from 4:00 -6:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 26 at Shelley Family Funeral Home. Randy was born on July 30, 1951 in Arkansas City, KS, the son of William L. and Ruby E. (Griffin) Bahruth. He was reared in Medford, Ok and Arkansas City, KS where he graduated from high school. After high school, he attended Cowley County Community College. In January of 1971, he joined the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In 1971, he married Susan Kaupang, to this union two children were born, Lisa and John. The couple later divorced in 1982. He served for 2 years in California as military police and then was honorably discharged and served in the Army National Guard and Reserves until 1977. On June 7, 1987 in Ponca City, OK he was united in marriage to Gloria (Rosiere) McCormick and accepted his chosen honorary step-children, Carl Edward McCormick, Charles Erick McCormick and Felicia Jeannell McCormick and the couple had one son together, Blake Aaron Bahruth. The couple made their home in Arkansas City, KS. Randy went to work at Tyler Productions for 27 years as a machinist and then went to work for General Electric in 1999 as a Line Leader Machinist until his recent health issue just a month ago.
Randy was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and enjoyed working on automobiles, computer electronic technology, reading Popular Mechanics magazines, watching UFO documentaries, steam engines and tractor pulls. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
His family includes his wife, of 33 years, Gloria of the home; his sons, John Bahruth and wife Angelina, and Blake Bahruth both of Arkansas City; his daughter, Lisa Bahruth of Wichita, KS; his chosen honorary step children, Felicia Mettling and husband Josh of Winfield, KS and Charles Erick McCormick of Newton, KS; his sister, Sheila Bahruth-Rohwer of Baton Rouge, LA and his 7 grandchildren, Morgan, Monica, Kimberly, Austin and Johnathon Bahruth and Grace and Opal Mettling. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his mother and father-in-law, Mamie and Leo Rosiere, chosen honorary stepson Carl Eddie McCormick and host of other family members.
