Richard Ceballos Obituary

Richard A. Ceballos, 92, of Winfield, KS passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023 at William Newton Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Holy Name Catholic Church of Winfield, the Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 A.M. prior to the mass. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions for Richard may be made to the VFW Post 3544, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.

Richard was born on April 24, 1930 in Lexington, NE to parents Jose G. Ceballos and Jesucita (Ybarra) Ceballos. He graduated from high school and joined the US Air Force. He worked as an airplane mechanic and retired from the Air Force in 1985. Richard loved airplanes and doing yard work, he was also a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW.

Survivors include his daughters Raquel Beeman (Gary Beeman), Rita Gumm (Daniel Carpenter), and Cecilia Adamson, all of Winfield; 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, wife Antonia Ceballos, son Richard A. Ceballos Jr., and his siblings.
