Richard “Tom” Thomas Robison, 85, of Newton, KS passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the Kansas Christian Home of Newton.
Tom was born on October, 21 1939 at the home of his grandmother in Copan, OK to parents Allen and Helen (Miller) Robison. Tom attended Cherryville, KS High School and would later get a degree in Criminal Justice at Cowley College. On June 8, 1985 Tom was united in marriage to his sweetheart, Georgia Gayle Higdon. Tom worked 14 years for John Morrell Meatpacking and would go on to join the Cowley County Sheriff's Office for a number of years and then move over to the Belle Plaine Police Department to work as the Assistant Chief. Tom was a man with many passions, he enjoyed woodworking and chopping wood, he was a John Wayne enthusiast, and he would spend many hours gardening and canning food with his wife. Tom was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Wellington, KS as well as St. Matthews Episcopal Church of Newton, KS.
Tom is survived by his children: Candy Chrislip (Johnny), Connie Sue Robison, Pamela Robison, Kala Shaw-Whiteside (George), and Joshua Robison, daughters-in-law Victoria Robison and Delinda Freeman, 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother James Robison, infant sister Sharon Robison, sons Nick and Mike Freeman, and grandson Jace Garrett Kinzie.
A memorial service for Tom will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 20, 2025 at St. Matthews Episcopal Church of Newton, KS. Graveside services for Tom and Georgia will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Parker Cemetery in Arkansas City, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the KCH Legacy of John Memorial, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
