Robert Craig Spears, 82, of Winfield passed away peacefully Sunday, April 19, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
Due to the current circumstances, celebration of life services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions for Bob may be made to the First United Methodist Church, contributions may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
Bob was born January 21, 1938 in Wagoner, Oklahoma the son of Earl and Harriet (Price) Spears. Bob graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa and received his undergraduate degree from Southwestern College in 1966, he received his Master’s degree from Emporia State in 1970 and began practicing as a psychologist. On his birthday in 1962, Bob married the love of his life, Mary Carol Burns in Newkirk, Oklahoma, they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. Bob worked at the Winfield State Hospital for 33 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winfield. Bob enjoyed playing golf, tinkering and being a handyman, listening to music, reading, and traveling. He was a firm believer in putting his family above all else.
Survivors include his wife Mary Carol Spears, daughter Lori Gabrielson and husband Nils, son Rob Spears and wife Trisha, grandchildren: Maggie Knobbe and husband Kyler, Molly Gabrielson and fiancé Scott Palmer, Cooper Spears, and Lydia Spears; and great-granddaughters: Emmie and Ella Knobbe. He is preceded in death by his parents.
