Roberta Sue Boomershine, 81, of Winfield, KS passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Winfield Senior Living Community.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the Dexter Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-6 P.M. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelley Family Funeral Home to defray expenses.
Roberta was born in Dexter, KS to parents Robert Williams and Bertha (Vaden) Maddox. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Dexter High School in 1960. She then started working in the records department at William Newton Hospital. Roberta married Merlin Gaylin and the couple later divorced. She married the love of her life, Darrel R. Boomershine on April 28, 1975. She loved the outdoors, fishing, doing crafts, sewing, quilting, and watching reruns of The Waltons and Gunsmoke. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandson Hunter Boomershine.
She is survived by her son Terry Boomershine, stepson Craig Boomershine, grandchildren Brandy King, Krystal King, Michael King, and Hunter Boomershine, sister Jeanie Purcell, and several nieces and nephews.
Roberta is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters Shirley Curtis, and Anita Green.
