Rogena Alice (Hutchens) Rhodes

Rogena Alice Rhodes, 88, of Arkansas City, KS passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Anew Healthcare in Oxford, KS.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Memorial contributions may be made to Harry Hynes Hospice, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home.

Rogena was born September 6, 1935 to parents James Evert and Addie (Tolles) Hutchens. She was born and raised in Arkansas City and attended Arkansas City schools. Rogena was united in marriage to the love of her life, Larry Rhodes, on June 14, 1953 in Arkansas City. She enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her boys, and she also worked as a CNA for Arkansas City Medicalodges and Presbyterian Manor. Rogena enjoyed sewing, collecting dolls and figurines, gardening, and solving word puzzles.

Survivors include her husband Larry Rhodes of Arkansas City, and sons Arron and wife Terry and Doug Rhodes, both of Winfield, sister Hattie Mae Ard and brother Nick Hutchens. Rogena is preceded in death by her parents, son Kevin Drew Rhodes and brother James Hutchens.
