Rosemary Liermann Almassy, 89, of Winfield, KS passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church of Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
Rosemary was born in Winfield, KS on December 22, 1933 the daughter of Lawrence and Emily (Fulcher) Liermann. She graduated from Winfield High School and later from St. John’s College in 1953 with an associate’s degree in business. She met her future husband, Alex Almassy, on a blind date. They were united in marriage on December 20, 1958 at the First United Methodist Church of Winfield. In 1961, they purchased her father’s business, Liermann’s Saddle & Boot Shop which they owned until its closure in 2019. She also worked for several years as a secretary for Binney and Smith and Dr. Bernsdorff, and she and her husband traveled all over the United States selling Catholic Church supplies. Rosemary enjoyed reading, playing piano, going for walks, skiing, being outdoors, and traveling, especially to Table Rock and Hot Springs, AR. Rosemary was a lifetime member of the Queen City Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and the First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years.
Survivors include her daughters Maria Kerr and husband Robin, and Julia Berk, grandchildren Justin Kerr and wife Nicole, and Ricky Kerr, and great-grandchildren Skyler Allen, Emily Kerr, and Alexis Kerr. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Lawrence Liermann Jr., and Harry Liermann, and sister Nancy Priest.
