Ruth M. Kirchhoff, 94, of Winfield, KS passed away peacefully Saturday, July 25, 2020 at home with her family.

Ruth was born October 1, 1925 to parents Edward and Dora (Dannenberg) Jacobs on their farmstead home north of Gaylord, KS. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church of Gaylord. She graduated from Gaylord High School in 1942, then attended a teacher's college and came home to teach at Gaylord Grade School.

In 1947 Ruth was united in marriage to Rolland Kirchhoff of Athol, KS. She enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her family, as well as being a very talented cook, seamstress and quilter. She also enjoyed landscaping and always had a large country garden. Ruth and Rolland were long time members of American Lutheran Church in Smith Center, and after Ruth moved to Winfield, Trinity Lutheran became her church home. One of her greatest joys was her fellowship with her sisters-in-law. For both Ruth and Rolland, farming and community service grew into a lifelong bond that they shared in activities in the Gideon Society. Ruth was a member of the Arts Council in Smith Center and also a leader in the 4-H club in Cedar for many years.

Survivors include her children: Nancy Lann of Winfield, Beth Kirchhoff with husband Loren Lukens of Seattle, WA, and Steve Kirchhoff with wife Linnea of Houston, TX. Grandchildren are Matthew Lann-Wolcott, Kevin Lann-Teubner, Claire Lukens, Paul Kirchhoff, Nicole Kirchhoff, and Keely Kirchhoff, and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brother Irwin Jacobs, sisters-in-law Betty Jacobs and Lucy Jacobs.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings: Richard, Walter, Duane and Victor Jacobs.

Graveside services will be held at Fairview Cemetery North of Smith Center, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lutheran Church of Smith Center or to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice of Winfield, KS. Contributions may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home, 803 Loomis St., Winfield, KS 67156.
