Sunny Sue (Littrell) Demir Obituary
After a long and determined fight to stay with us, Sunny Sue (Littrell) Demir, 87, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away on August 18, 2026.
She is preceded in death by her kind and devoted husband of 48 years, Dr. Remzi Demir; her beautiful daughter, Sureyya Sherife Demir; a very sweet grandson, Cosmo Demir; amazing and strong parents, Harold and Winifred Littrell; her most loved siblings, brothers Robert Thomas (RT) Littrell, Harold Littrell, sister Barbara Steele, nephew Larry Steele and numerous best friends who are planting pink, plastic flamingos on strangers' lawns in heaven.
Sunny proudly called herself a fabricator — not of tall tales, but of inventions, contraptions, and ideas that occasionally made sense and always made life more interesting. She graduated from Winfield High School, attended St. John’s College, and then went on to work for the FBI in Washington, D.C., where she undoubtedly improved national security through sheer force of personality.
In 1961 she married Remzi and travelled with him back to his home of Ankara, Turkey, where she gave birth to their son (Teoman), and collected enough stories to retell for the next six decades. In addition to building her husband’s medical practice, she co‑founded the first blood pressure clinic in Maryland and championed various other causes with sheer determination.
Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren — Scout, Harper, and Cosmo — who adored her and kept her endlessly entertained. They were the center of her world, and she never hesitated to brag about them to strangers and to anyone who would listen.
Sunny is survived by son, Dr. Teoman Demir and his wife Bernadette; daughter, Melek Demir; grandchildren Scout Demir and Harper Demir; nieces Sandy Barker, Sherry Long, Gloria Opstad, Allison Rodgers, Funda Gökce and nephew Selim Gökce all of whom will miss her fiercely and continue to tell her stories, preferably with embellishment.
As someone who nurtured every garden she touched, in lieu of flowers, we ask that you honor her memory by planting something beautiful and helping it grow...seriously!
