Ted C. Kennedy, 75, of Ponca City, OK, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at the Burford Theatre in Ark City. Private burial will take place at the Geuda Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Ark City.
Ted was born on February 5, 1950, in Arkansas City, KS to parents Donald and Carol (Kennedy) Mueller. He graduated from Dexter High School in 1968. Ted was united in marriage to Christy Carnott on June 19, 1993, in El Reno, OK. He worked at Rodeo Meats for 27 years, was Walmart Auto center manager for both Ark City and Ponca City locations for 19 years, and later worked at Cowley County Community College as a security guard. Ted enjoyed trap shooting, bowling, and golfing. He was an avid fan of the Chiefs and the OKC Thunder, and enjoyed watching all sports. Most of all, Ted loved spending time with his family.
Ted is survived by his wife, children Rachel Rhodes (Troy), Carrie Sanborn (Gary), and Mike Kennedy, daughter-in-law Celena Kennedy, sister Shirley Kennedy, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son Chris Kennedy, and brother Joe Mueller.
