Thad Gordon

Thad Douglas Gordon, 56, of Peabody passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Newton Medical Center.

Thad was born on August 24, 1964, in Tulsa to Tommy Joe and Judy Diane (Archer) Gordon.  Thad graduated from Winfield High School in 1982, where he excelled in music.  He also had fond memories of traveling to Europe with the WHS French Club the summer of his senior year.  He attended Wichita State University for one year until he was stricken with a debilitating mental illness that become a life-long struggle.  Despite suffering with severe schizophrenia, Thad persevered in his own way, and his love of music continued throughout his life.

Thad is survived by his brother, Jeff (Diana) Gordon of Wichita; his nephews, Archer and Justin Gordon; his aunt, Linda Murphy of Ponca City, and by his many cousins.  He will be fondly remembered by his second family at Westview Manor in Peabody.

Thad was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy Joe Gordon and Diane Archer Bradbury, by his step-father, Noble Dean Bradbury, and by his grandparents, Leon “Swede” and Biffle (Evans) Gordon, and T. Fred and Opal (Duke) Archer.  A private family service will be held at the Cedar Vale Cemetery, arrangements are in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
