Thomas Anthony Negrete, 39 of Olathe, KS passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Advent Health in Shawnee Mission, KS surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe, KS Monday, February 14, 2022 at 10:30 A.M., the Rosary will be prayed at 10:10 A.M. and a time of visitation will be held from 9-10 A.M. Graveside services will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Winfield, KS at 3:00 PM February 14th. Memorial contributions may be made to John Paul II Knights of Columbus #16595, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home.
Tommy was born on February 20, 1982 in Topeka, KS to parents Ysidro Pete and Lucia G. (Hernandez) Negrete. He graduated from Olathe East High School in 2000 and took HVAC courses at Johnson County Community College. He worked for Johnson County for many years before working at Timberlane Partners Apartments in Gardner, KS. Tommy was a devoted catholic and was proud to be a member of the Knights of Columbus, he was a Past Grand Knight of 7909, Past Faithful Navigator of assembly of 2260, Past District Deputy of District 10 and Chairman of the 112th Knights of Columbus State Convention. Tommy was an avid Titans, OU Sooners, Sporting KC fan and WWE fan, he also enjoyed playing golf with his foursome group, his father, Pedro, and Paul. He could quote any movie and loved giving people nicknames and had a few himself, including “Biggie” and “Juice Box” He always extended handouts to strangers, always talked to people he did not know even it was just to say hi. “He came, he conquered, he died”. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and Sporting KC, Levy at T-Mobile Center, KC Chiefs, KC Royals, Red Door, and Johnny’s Tavern families.
Tommy is survived by his parents, sisters Angelina Rice, Marcelina Barahona-Negrete (Lester), and brother Pedro Negrete, nieces and nephews: Sebastian, Cirilio, Apolonia, Anthony, Isabela, Joseph, Mariabella, Jonathan, Jackson, Aybel, D’Maraee, Nicolai, and Rylee, as well as several aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Ysidro and Petra Negrete, maternal grandparents Pedro and Santos Hernandez, and nephew Aydan Thomas Negrete.
