Velma Jean (Jennings) Goree, 69, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Alderbrook Village of Arkansas City.

Velma was born on September 21, 1953 in Arkansas City to parents Booker and Velva (Watson) Jennings. She worked as a nurse’s aide for the Winfield State Hospital, from which she retired in 1982. Velma loved her grandkids, puzzles, singing and taking walks. She was a member of the Great Grace Family Worship Center.

Survivors include her husband Lamont Goree, daughter Victoria Goree, 5 granddaughters, 1 great-granddaughter, siblings: Lovee McCarty, Rodney Jennings, Booker T. Jennings III, and Charles Jennings. She is preceded in death by her parents, Booker T. Jennings II and Velva Jennings.

Her family will hold memorial services at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the Great Grace Family Worship Center. Arrangements are in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
