Venita Lucille Jacks, 96, of Winfield, KS, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Winfield Rest Haven.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at the Shelley Family Funeral Home Chapel in Winfield. Graveside services will follow at the Floral Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 PM, on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Memorial contributions may be made to Winfield Rest Haven; donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
Venita was born on November 22, 1927, in Harmon, OK, to parents Lloyd Earl and Nellie (Kelly) Cook. She graduated from Marland, OK, high school in 1945 where she lettered in basketball. On January 30, 1946, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Leonard Cecil Jacks. Venita worked as a nurses' aide at William Newton Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital. She enjoyed reading, bowling, badminton, ceramics, word searches, talking on ham radio, traveling all over the US, and she made the best apple butter. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Forty and Eight Group for over fifty years.
Venita is survived by her children: Cecil Jacks (Brenda), Mary Lucille Feist, and Jo Russell; grandchildren: Lanna Roby, Anne Hoekstra (Ken), Megan Duerksen (Lucius), Koby Russell (Rebecca), John Russell; great-grandchildren: Braden Roby, Bryanna Hall (Ben), Haniah Duerksen, Azriah Duerksen, and Mishiah Duerksen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, sons-in-law, Dewayne Feist, and Bevin Russell, and two granddaughters Jamie and Penney Feist.
