Wallace R. Patterson, 89, of Oxford, KS passed away October 8, 2024 in Wellington, KS.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 11, 2024 at the Oxford Funeral Service - 104 N Sumner Ave, Oxford, KS 67119. Committal and military honors will follow at the Oxford Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. Thursday at the Oxford Funeral Service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Lions Club, donations may be left in the care of the funeral home.
Wallace, also known as “Wally” to friends and “Uncle Rube” to family, was born on November 24, 1934 in Augusta, KS to parents Ruby and Addie Murel (Stafford) Patterson. He graduated from Augusta High School then proudly served in the US Army from 1954-1956, before attending Emporia State University where he met the love of his life Sandra Riggs. The couple was united in marriage on November 26, 1958, at the Oxford Methodist Church. Wallace worked for Kansas Gas Services for 34 years, starting as a meter reader and later as a gas service representative. Wallace enjoyed fishing, Royals baseball, Chiefs football, and farming. He was a member of the Oxford Lions Club, Oxford Methodist Church, and was a Valverde Township trustee and volunteer firefighter.
Wallace is survived by his wife Sandra, children Kay Petersen (Doug), Carol Wolf, and Keith Alan Patterson, grandchildren Kristine Krivensky (Matthew), Stephanie Moen (Jason), Ryan Petersen (Bri), Mark Petersen (Roxann), Risa Jackline (Joey), and Adrianne Crabtree, and 12 great-grandchildren. Wallace is preceded in death by his parents.
