Walter “Red” Stephen Marr, Jr., 76, of Arkansas City, KS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, November 24, 2020 at his home.
Cremation will take place and services will be held by the family. Shelley Family Funeral Service of Arkansas City is in charge of the arrangements.
Red was born on December 3, 1943 in Arkansas City, KS, the son of Walter Stephen, Sr. and Iva (Wells) Marr. He attended school in Geuda Springs, KS. After high school he joined the United States Navy but was discharged due to his kidney health. He then began employment with Cessna Aircraft in Wichita and also worked out of Strother Field. Red also worked for USD 470, LG Pike Construction and then he retired from Calmar. Red was 32nd Degree mason and was member of the local Crescent Lodge #133 AF&AM. He was united in marriage to Janice M. June on August 19, 1963 in Newkirk, OK. The couple made their home in Arkansas City. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
His family includes: his wife Janice of the home; his children, Ivy D Beals, Walter S. Marr III, Charlotte K Modlin and Christopher W. Marr; his 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Red is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Phillip Marr, Sr; sister, Jewell Marie; son, Stephen Marr III; a grandson, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter.
