Wayne Leroy Keesey, 83, of New Salem, KS passed away peacefully Saturday, December 21, 2024 at his home.
Wayne was born September 23, 1941 in rural New Salem, KS the son of Aubrey Glenn and Marie Ann (Schroeder) Keesey. He attended Winfield High School and worked in the oil field and Construction. Wayne was united in marriage to the love of his life, Pamela Jane Wagoner, on February 24, 1961 in Winfield. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed, camping, fishing, birdwatching, mowing, and hunting with his hunting dogs. Wayne loved spending time with his family and was known as the “Candy Man” because he loved to share sweet treats with them.
Survivors include his children Mike Keesey, Lisa Keesey Mitchell, and Gena Keesey Crow, daughter-in-law Cheryl Keesey, sisters Fay McCarter, and Phyllis Kearns-Cramer, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, son William Joseph Keesey, daughter-in-law Ramona Keesey, son-in-law Steven Mitchell, and brothers Glenn and Vern Lee Keesey and sister Gladys Lockyear.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 6th, 2025 at the New Salem Cemetery, a Celebration of Life will follow at the New Salem Community Building at Noon. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cowley County Humane Society, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
