Wesley Eugene Schoonover

Wesley Eugene Schoonover, 61, of Winfield, KS passed away, surrounded by his family Sunday, April 16, 2023.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 21, 2023 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. A family inurnment will take place later at the Ross Cemetery in Neodesha, KS where his final resting spot will be with his father and grandparents. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Winfield, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.

Wesley was born in Neodesha, KS on September 21, 1961 the son of Duane and Mary Joann (Shultz) Schoonover. He attended high school in Fredonia, KS and attended Cowley County Community College and Southwestern College, earning a bachelor's degree in business. He was united in marriage with Penny Schoonover on June 17, 1983 in Blackwell, OK. He worked as a quality inspector and had worked in oil, aerospace and in nondestructive testing. Wesley enjoyed fishing, camping, talking to people, and spending time with his family. His faith was very important to him; he was a Bible student and member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Survivors include his wife, Penny Schoonover, sons Sean Schoonover and fiancée Susie Wilson of Winfield, KS, and Casey Schoonover and wife April of Haven, KS, grandchildren Keenen Duane Schoonover, Clayton Edward Schoonover, and Jazmine Lynn Maire Schoonover, mother Mary Joann Schoonover, brothers Rick and Randy Schoonover, and sister Dueana Palmer. Wesley is preceded in death by his father.
