William “Bill” Leaton Sr. passed away November 2, 2024, at his home in Cedar Vale, KS.
A celebration of life will be held on November 24th 2024 1:00 PM at the Cedar Vale Hewins Park Pavillion. Memorials in Bill’s name may be made on the Memorial Tree program on the Shelley Family Funeral Home website.
Bill was born on June 3, 1959, in Kansas City, MO, to parents Fletcher and Betty J. (Bond) Leaton. He attended schools in Kansas City before being united in marriage to the love of his life Diana Cloud on November 23, 1981, in Sedan, KS. The couple later divorced. Bill worked for Greg Bennett in solid waste management for over 20 years. He enjoyed exploring nature, rock and arrowhead hunting, watching eagles and other wildlife, reading, and coloring. He was a member of the National Wildlife Federation, but most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife, his children Lakisha Leaton (Brian Corbett), William Leaton Jr. (Brandy), and Rachel Leaton, and sister Sue Ogle; grandchildren Shyanne, Ciarra, Dailen, Karsun, Klaiton, Aspen, Kohner, Amity, David, Tara, Brittany, Easton, and Scarlett; and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Otis Leaton and sister Helen Leaton.
