Wilma Jean Cook

Wilma Jean Cook, 100, of Derby, KS passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Anew Healthcare and Rehab of Oxford, KS.

Graveside services will be held at Noon, Saturday, December 17, 2022 at the Oxford Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled. Memorial contributions for Wilma may be made to the Derby EMS and the Salvation Army, donations may be left in the care of the Oxford Funeral Service.

Jean was born February 5, 1922 in Oxford, KS the daughter of William and Ethel (Nice) Conover. She grew up in Oxford and graduated from Oxford High School in 1940. On November 14, 1942 Jean was united in marriage to John V. Cook in Wichita, KS, he preceded her in death in 1988. She enjoyed being a homemaker. She moved from Oxford to Derby in 1953. Jean enjoyed playing the piano and flower gardening and was an excellent cook. Most of all she loved caring for her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

Jean is survived by her daughter Barbara Cook, grandsons Wesley (Laney) Cook and John Cook, great-grandchildren: Jon Cook, Jeremy Cook, John W. Cook II, Amanda (Corey) Marie Jean Smith, great-great-grandchildren: Branson Cook, Graham Cook, Caroline Mae Smith, and Sydney Kaye Smith; numerous nieces and nephews, and many other family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Vincent L. Cook, and twin brothers William and Willis Conover.
