Zelphia Jonetta Peterson

Zelphia Jonetta Peterson, 99, of Arkansas City, KS passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Hope Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to Rivercross Hospice, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City.

Zelphia was born on March 20, 1924 in Wellington, KS to parents Roscoe and Ruth (Annis) Stands. She attended Caldwell High School, and on August 24, 1942 was united in marriage to the love of her life, Lyle R. Peterson. Zelphia worked at a grade school in Gueda Springs, at Cessna Strother Field, but mostly she was a devoted caregiver. She enjoyed sewing, doing yard work and being with family.

She is survived by her daughters Carolyn Williams of Pocatello, ID, Susan Dainty (Kenny) of El Dorado, and son-in-law Steve Musson of Arkansas City, 7 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, daughter Virginia Ann Musson, sons Lyle Peterson and Steven Peterson, siblings Christina, Raymond, Elva Mae and Harley.
